Bill Chapman, CEO, Millennium Bulk Terminals – Longview

In January, Millennium CEO Bill Chapman was elected to the Mountains to  Sound Greenway Trust “Hall of Fame.” Before joining Millennium, Bill served as president of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust for ten years. The Trust was created in 1990 to inspire action to conserve and enhance the natural landscape from Seattle across the Cascade Mountains to Central Washington. A commitment to the environment, safety and community are values that attracted Bill to the Trust and are the same values that he brings to his role at Millennium.

Bill was instrumental to the organization as it worked to protect 7,000 acres to create the Raging River State Forest, the 50,252 acre Teanaway Community Forest, Snoqualmie Point Park, Rattlesnake Mountain Trail, Mailbox Peak Trail and numerous other iconic wilderness habitats. During his tenure as president, the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust attracted 30,000 students to its educational programs and 40,000 volunteers to support its mission of creating a 1.5 million acre landscape that balances built and natural habitats.

“I’m honored to be recognized by my former colleagues with the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust,” said Bill Chapman. “The Trust represents the hard work of dozens of organizations, hundreds of individuals and thousands of volunteers from across the state. We accomplished much in ten years to preserve the natural beauty of the region and to promote better understanding and engagement with the natural landscape. I’m honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and I look forward to what the Trust will accomplish in the next ten years.”

The Mountain to Sound Greenway Trust is a coalition of environmentalists, farmers, developers, government agencies, nonprofits and businesses committed to protecting the character of the corridor along Interstate 90, stretching out of Seattle and through the Cascade Mountains.
