AFTER SIX YEARS…WE’RE STILL HERE!
Tomorrow, we pass another major milestone. It’s now been six years since we filed permit applications to build a world-class export terminal in Longview. You’ve been by our side during this long process – and for that we say THANK YOU.
The case for this project has become even more compelling since we filed for permits back in 2012. Coal markets are strong, with growing demand in South Korea and Japan. These allies are building dozens of high-efficiency coal-fired power plants, and they need Powder River Basin coal. But currently, rural Washington is missing out, while Powder River Basin coal is shipped through Canada.
Together, we’ll put Southwest Washington back to work and support our allies across the Pacific.
We may face strong headwinds from a dysfunctional review process, but our investors, the entire Millennium team, and our loyal supporters stand firm in our commitment to see this project through. As we look ahead, we’re emboldened by the progress made in the past year.
Milestones achieved last year:
Final SEPA EIS released in April 2017
The County awarded us the first of many permits
Millennium received Workforce Education Best Practice Business Award by Kelso-Longview Chamber of Commerce
Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council unanimously voted in favor of Millennium at 61st Annual Convention
Several hundred neighbors, family and friends attended our 6th Annual Summer Shindig where Millennium partnered with Highlands Neighborhood Association
Cowlitz County Superior Court affirmed Millennium’s argument and overturns an “arbitrary and capricious” decision by the state
Cowlitz County testified that Millennium can meet the criteria for the County Shoreline Permits
Thank you for your continued support.
