Millennium with the combined efforts of Clear Water Environmental Inc. delivered 4 pickup truck loads of surplus fire extinguishers to Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue.  “I’m stoked! A lot of people are going to benefit from this,” Kirk Meller , Volunteer Coordinator with Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescues said.  Within the next couple weeks they are going to begin training on the different types of extinguishers and the types of fires they’re used on.  Kirk  explained to us that it can be hard to rummage up enough extinguishers to use for practice; it also can get extremely expensive.  A further benefit will come in the end when the extinguishers can be recycled for scrap metal. The Cowlitz 2 crew told us our donation couldn’t have come at a better time.

The donation of the fire extinguishers was an idea offered by Clark Hislop, City of Kelso Planning Commissioner and Senior Account Manager at Clearwater Environmental Services Inc.  Clark said “It was a real pleasure facilitating this donation of over three hundred fire extinguishers from, Millennium Bulk Terminals to the Fire District for training our future firefighters to protect our community. This was a real win for both entities.”
