During my thirty years as a lawyer working alongside my clients on projects, I’ve fought many battles to create better communities that value both economic development and a cleaner environment—that’s why working as CEO at Millennium Bulk Terminals in Longview is just the right opportunity. We’re working to create a measurable impact in a community economy and provide a blueprint for improved environmental stewardship along the Columbia River.
As CEO, I’ll continue our dedication to producing both construction and permanent employment jobs that pay family wages and benefit our economy in Southwest Washington. We’ll continue the clean-up and redevelopment of our site into a world-class port facility ensuring productive site usage for years to come. We’ll continue to work building a strong health and safety record with our employees and a strong environmental compliance record with our existing port operations.
For local residents, Millennium’s $650 million investment will bring good, family-wage jobs to a county that has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state. For business owners, we will advance our state’s vital trade leadership.
We just released a video highlighting our commitment to building this project right. CLICK HERE to see how we’re working hard to ensure that we bring a balanced approach to pursuing economic and environmental objectives. Our video also features new aerial views of our facility. The Millennium team has made great headway in our clean-up and redevelopment efforts—take a quick moment and enjoy their progress. With the completion of recent demolition and major recycling of steel and aluminum, we have already removed nearly 300,000 tons of material and recycled roughly two thirds of it.
On behalf of the entire Millennium family, we are extremely grateful for the strong support we’ve received from so many at home in Longview and across Washington state and look forward to continuing our partnership in the years to come.
