As part of Millennium’s environmental review process, members of the community will be invited to submit their comments about Millennium’s permit applications to the co-lead agencies – Cowlitz County, the Washington State Department of Ecology and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. These comments will provide federal, state and local decision-makers with valuable feedback to consider in the development of a draft environmental impact statement (EIS).
In order to ensure that your comments are viable for consideration, the Department of Ecology has posted a recommended list of helpful topics to inform comment submissions. The Department of Ecology recommends that comments be clear, concise, organized and specific.
The upcoming scoping comment period provides an opportunity for you to show your support for our plans to clean up the former Reynolds aluminum smelter, create hundreds of family-wage jobs here in Cowlitz County, and generate millions of dollars in new tax revenue for state and local governments. Millennium encourages a transparent and thorough environmental review process and looks forward to working with the community to discuss our proposed export facility. You can track the permitting process at http://www.ecy.wa.gov/geographic/millennium/index.html.
